At this time, there are approximately 46,000 people in the 65 and above age group living in Mercer County. Only about 500 of these people attend adult day health care programs due to the lack of senior care centers to service their needs.

Availability of Service

Only 4.5 percent of the total senior adult population in Mercer County, New Jersey have access to the services available at local day health care centers. Due to the limited availability of these services, many senior adults are not able to receive basic healthcare such as the monitoring of blood pressure and blood glucose levels or assistance with weight maintenance and dietary needs. Furthermore, many seniors are not aware of the social and economic resources available within their community.
